Yang Hyun Suk & Park Jin Young @ ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’ Press Conference
On September 2nd, YG Entertainment‘s Yang Hyun Suk and JYP Entertainment‘s J.Y. Park came together at the Imperial Palace Hotel to attend the press conference for SBS’s ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star‘!
As two of three judges on the show, both men discussed their judging styles as well as what they’ll be looking for in their future talents.
Yang Hyun Suk began, “I’m not going to purposely criticize or act over the top for the program’s sake. I’m going to speak the truth, and as opposed to praise, I’m going to explain what they lack in.”
When asked why he joined the program, he said, “Audition programs discovered stars based on their vocal talent, but this show focuses on the discovery of talents through the eyes of a professional based on not only vocal talent, but dance, looks, and skills as wells. I think that the other standard audition programs are fun to watch and have creative content, but if I were to criticize an aspect, it’d be that the stars they produce are only popular for the duration of the show, which is disappointing.”
Yang continued, “Once they make their major debut, they face thousands of other singers who sing just as great, if not better than them. There needs to be consistency, and that’s why I joined the program.”
J.Y. Park added, “We’re not in this to create a fun show. We’re in this to find the next Big Bang or the Wonder Girls. We’re not going to distort what we do for the sake of the program, and we’ll be picking and judging as we normally would.”
He continued, “On other programs, applicants need to be exceptional in dancing or singing, but in ours, we’re going to look for potential. We’ll be choosing the applicant with the highest potential of growth. There will inevitably be a difference in opinion between the viewers and our eyes.”
Commenting on the type of trainee that they’ll be choosing, the two gave contrasting answers. Yang revealed, “I’m going to pick the person who looks the most evil. They’ll need character, but I think the ones that look mean and strong on stage are the most charismatic.”
J.Y. Park replied, “I have a tendency of picking nice people. g.o.d., the Wonder Girls, and Rain are really bad at variety shows because they’re shy. I prefer people who are honest and diligent.”
‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’ will begin broadcasting this December.

How Did “K-Pop Star” Recruit JYP and Yang Hyun Suk as Judges?
Currently, the upcoming show “K-Pop Star” is gaining a lot of attention for having recruited JYP and Yang Hyun Suk of YG as judges for the survival show. The PD of the show Park Sung Hoon divulged how he was able to recruit them.
Park Sung Hoon stated, “We knew from the start that we needed to bring in Yang Hyun Suk and JYP, it wasn’t like the two had no inclination to join the show. However, the two seemed to have some reservations of appearing on TV after such a long time.” “We believe that they decided to join on because they saw that the show would be very successful.”
“K-Pop Star” is a program that has now combined the forces of SM, YG, and JYP. Everyone is curious as to who will join the show as a judge from SM Entertainment. Currently Park Sung Hoon PD revealed that they are talking with SM, but for who will appear, nothing is set in stone.

Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young to judge SBS’s ‘Survival Audition K-pop Star’
The world of music audition programs just got a whole lot more interesting, as it’s been confirmed that Yang Hyun Suk and J.Y. Park will be appearing as guest judges on SBS’s ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star‘. It will be the first time that such representative and influential figures in the Korean music industry will be making a joint appearance like this.
These two can easily be referred to as ‘Hallyu makers’, standing together at the center of the K-Pop wave. It seems they’ve agreed to judge the auditions in order to find talent capable of shocking the world.
Yang Hyun Suk called ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’ a “Talent identification program that holds the rest of the world as its target. We’re capable of seeing talents that the person auditioning may not even realize themselves. I want to people recognize their own talents and help them grow from there.”
J.Y. Park commented, “Age and nationality won’t matter. We’re only interested in dancing, singing, rapping, or any other musical talents and can promise to take care of the rest.”
The show plans to center around YG, JYP and SM Entertainment’s search to find and create the next generation of K-pop stars. The winner of the competition will win an impressive monetary prize, record an album to be released worldwide, and receive CF modeling contracts as well as cars.

Wonder Girls & Big Bang earned the most in August!
A Korean marketing group recently decided to do some research to find out how much idols are getting paid for their performances—specifically, how much they received in wages for the month of August.After compiling together all their data, the group found that based on their activities last month, the following Korean artists are making over 60 million won, or a little over $51,000 USD:
According to the report, out of the artists listed above, BoA, DBSK, Rain, Big Bang and Wonder Girls are earning the most wages.

During a segment on Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook, the Wonder Girls were asked various questions asked by the man himself.
One particular question, directed at our very own Kim Yoo Bin, is a direct WonderBang moment!
“Who’s a popular male idol amongst the Wonder Girls?”
She answered: Big Bang‘s Tae Yang.
Other questions directed towards the girls include:
Sun Ye – “Do you like 2AM or 2PM better?”
A: 2AM… since we go back a long ways but 2PM is #1 too
Ye Eun – “Where was your last date?”
A: “At the house.”
So Hee – “If you had to do plastic surgery, which part would you do it on?”
A: “I don’t need it, I have confidence in myself (just joking). The part I would do plastic surgery on is… (pause)… ankle.”

In the States, through the broadcast shows, we heard a lot of about how they have revealed that they had like So Nyeo Shi Dae more than us. The Short Shorts Film Festival Asia 2010, will begin 11th June in Japan and will feature music videos from South Korea, as part of their special screening/event line-up.
This “Korean Music Clip Program” will be shown on June 16th, 2010 at Brillia Short Shorts Theater, from 1920hrs – 2110hrs. Music videos that will be shown includes:

Wonder Girls and Big Bang compete again??
Only yesterday Wonder Girls released their new MV for the song “2 Different Tears” and today, YGEnt suddenly releases Big Bang‘s new MV for “Tell Me Goodbye”.
(**which by the way, “Tell Me Goodbye” just screams Wonder Girls to me.. “Tell Me”, the chart-topper and “Goodbye” anyone?? hehehe..)
It seems Wonder Girls and Big Bang are competitors once again but of course, apart from seeing it as such, I’m sure fans, or WonderfulVIPs will be beyond excited to see both their comeback.
Since 2007, both Wonder Girls and Big Bang has been “competiting” to reach the top. When Big Bang came out with hit song “Lies”, Wonder Girls blew the k-pop world with “Tell Me” a few months later. Also, because of this, we get to see the first ever WonderBang Special Stage at Music Bank! 🙂
Then, after “Lies”, Big Bang came out with “Last Farewell” and Wonder Girls with “This Fool”. They ‘compete’ again when Big Bang was promoting “Haru Haru” and Wonder Girls made a comeback with worldwide phenomena “Nobody”, and as usual, lead to another awesome special stage at MBC’s Gayo Daejeon in 2008.
Will we get to see a special stage of “2 Different Tears” and “Tell Me Goodbye” this year? or any WonderBang special stage at all? Looks like we have to keep praying and hoping 🙂

JYP and Dae Sung on FO
I’m sure most of you will have read the particular article on AKP, where Dae Sung mentioned that he wants to go to America and JYP says the only way you can do that if you become part of Wonder Girls. Then Dae Sung immediately auditioned by singing the chorus of “Nobody“, so enthusiastically, and I find that super cute! Haha.
And I choose to believe he sang that part because of Ye Eun. Don’t correct me. LOL. Even though the most logical reason would be that is the chorus and people always tend to sing the chorus 🙂
But isn’t it great to see JYP and Dae Sung having fun like that? It just shows this JYG love that is going around.. hehe 🙂

WonderBang: Artist of The Year
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected Wonder Girls and Big Bang as the Artists of the Year. The two groups are scheduled to receive awards at the 2009 Korea Content Award for their contributions overseas. With Wonder Girls having activities in America and being the first Korean group to be on the Billboard Chart and Big Bang having activities in Japan.

In an interview with MBC Section TV, Wonder Girls were models with a Doll-like concept. Yoo Bin was spotted with a blonde hair and said something about G-Dragon. (perhaps chanelling him? LOL.)

For this is the day which brought us all together for the love of 2 of the most lovable groups in Korea.
True, this year perhaps, most probably, we won’t get to see any WonderBang on stage. However, let us not despair cos there’s always next year 🙂
Or, we can do what we did last year, in an effort to see our beloved WonderBang performing together once again, on stage. However, it’ll be difficult since our Wonder Girls are probably going to train really hard in America and they’ll be busy so let’s not burden them ok? Hehehe..
Anyways, let’s hope there’ll be MORE and TONS of WonderBang performance, interactions, news, etc in the future!!
