How Did “K-Pop Star” Recruit JYP and Yang Hyun Suk as Judges?
Currently, the upcoming show “K-Pop Star” is gaining a lot of attention for having recruited JYP and Yang Hyun Suk of YG as judges for the survival show. The PD of the show Park Sung Hoon divulged how he was able to recruit them.
Park Sung Hoon stated, “We knew from the start that we needed to bring in Yang Hyun Suk and JYP, it wasn’t like the two had no inclination to join the show. However, the two seemed to have some reservations of appearing on TV after such a long time.” “We believe that they decided to join on because they saw that the show would be very successful.”
“K-Pop Star” is a program that has now combined the forces of SM, YG, and JYP. Everyone is curious as to who will join the show as a judge from SM Entertainment. Currently Park Sung Hoon PD revealed that they are talking with SM, but for who will appear, nothing is set in stone.

Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young to judge SBS’s ‘Survival Audition K-pop Star’
The world of music audition programs just got a whole lot more interesting, as it’s been confirmed that Yang Hyun Suk and J.Y. Park will be appearing as guest judges on SBS’s ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star‘. It will be the first time that such representative and influential figures in the Korean music industry will be making a joint appearance like this.
These two can easily be referred to as ‘Hallyu makers’, standing together at the center of the K-Pop wave. It seems they’ve agreed to judge the auditions in order to find talent capable of shocking the world.
Yang Hyun Suk called ‘Survival Audition K-Pop Star’ a “Talent identification program that holds the rest of the world as its target. We’re capable of seeing talents that the person auditioning may not even realize themselves. I want to people recognize their own talents and help them grow from there.”
J.Y. Park commented, “Age and nationality won’t matter. We’re only interested in dancing, singing, rapping, or any other musical talents and can promise to take care of the rest.”
The show plans to center around YG, JYP and SM Entertainment’s search to find and create the next generation of K-pop stars. The winner of the competition will win an impressive monetary prize, record an album to be released worldwide, and receive CF modeling contracts as well as cars.

YG hopes for Wonder Girls’ & BOA’s success in America
YG Yang HyunSeok talks about Se7en’s attempt to advance into the American music scene.
Se7en had a comeback celebration party in a club in CheongDamDong on 20th July. Yang HyunSeok who was also present told the reporters, “There is rumours saying that Se7en’s American debut being a failure but we are not going to deny it. But advancing into the American music scene is harder than we thought. As compared to visible results, we would still take up the challenge for a try at it even if the chances of failure is 99%. Under such circumstances, we see it that there is no use to discuss whether it was a success or failure.”
He also added, “And I hope that BoA and the WonderGirls who are currently promoting in the States will do well there. The barrier for Asian artistes into the American music market is still very high. Especially for the company which is in charged of promotions, the reliability is gone once the contract is over.”
Yang HyunSeok said, “If a good chance comes along, we will take up the challenge again. We are still working hard on looking for a good promoter and industry relations.”
Se7en himself voiced, “It is true that the goals that I’ve set on advancing into the American music market did not materialize. The sense of regret is larger since the time put into preparing for this was so long. Honestly you can’t say it is an official debut since there was no release of a full length album. It would be hard to kick off promotional activities. It is really a shame since so much time has been invested to prepare for it.”
He added, “I was not able to show what I have spent time preparing for. But still I learnt a lot. I have also studied up on music a lot for the past 3 years. And I’ve improved on dancing and singing. And as an individual I’ve definitely matured much. To succeed as singer, you need to look into 3 areas – talent, music and company. But in the States, I didn’t get the best out of the 3. Even if you have this 3, it is not a guarantee you will succeed. Instead of saying that one is lacking, it is just tough.”

JYP and Dae Sung on FO
I’m sure most of you will have read the particular article on AKP, where Dae Sung mentioned that he wants to go to America and JYP says the only way you can do that if you become part of Wonder Girls. Then Dae Sung immediately auditioned by singing the chorus of “Nobody“, so enthusiastically, and I find that super cute! Haha.
And I choose to believe he sang that part because of Ye Eun. Don’t correct me. LOL. Even though the most logical reason would be that is the chorus and people always tend to sing the chorus 🙂
But isn’t it great to see JYP and Dae Sung having fun like that? It just shows this JYG love that is going around.. hehe 🙂
In fact, I remember reading an article a few years back in 2007, about how JYG are always competing.

Though this year, both Wonder Girls and Big Bang weren’t as active (as a whole group) in Korea, let’s make WonderBang happen in 2009.
